SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability

At CEEC Brazil, we believe that sustainable economic growth and socio-environmental responsibility are inseparable. We operate at the forefront of development, investing in and managing projects that are essential for the future, with the ESG agenda – Environmental, Social, and Governance – as a central pillar of our business strategy. Our focus on sanitation, renewable energy, and infrastructure places us directly on the front lines of global challenges such as climate change and the energy transition. For this reason, sustainability is integrated into every stage of our investments (M&A and PPPs) and engineering projects.

Our investment decisions are guided by a rigorous assessment of ESG risks and opportunities, ensuring that allocated capital not only delivers solid financial returns but also generates a positive and lasting impact on society.

The Three Pillars of Our Approach

Environmental – E

We lead by example, integrating practices and solutions that not only minimize environmental impact but also promote ecosystem regeneration and resilience. We foster the energy transition through investments in clean energy generation and transmission, as well as resilient infrastructure, reducing carbon emissions and promoting energy security.

Social – S

We prioritize the creation of shared value with our employees and the communities where we operate through strict occupational health and safety protocols, a strong commitment to human rights, and the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion within our workplace and supply chain.

Governance – G

The sustainability of our business is grounded in transparent, ethical, and responsible corporate governance, supported by clear communication channels and accountability to shareholders, investors, partners, communities, and regulatory authorities, ensuring strategic alignment and trust.

Choosing CEEC Brazil represents an investment in operational excellence and a direct commitment to the future. We become your strategic partner in the pursuit of engineering and investment solutions that are, by principle, sustainable, fair, and resilient.

CEEC Brazil Aligned with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

In 2015, the United Nations (UN) proposed a new sustainable development agenda for its member states for the following 15 years: the 2030 Agenda, which comprises the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This is a joint effort involving governments, companies, institutions, and civil society. The SDGs aim to ensure human rights, eradicate poverty, combat inequality and injustice, achieve gender equality, address climate change, promote the preservation of natural resources, and confront other major challenges of our time.

The private sector plays a fundamental role in this process as a major economic stakeholder, a driver of innovation and technology, and an influencer and engager of diverse audiences—including governments, suppliers, employees, and consumers.

CEEC Brazil’s activities and operating model contribute to the achievement of the targets set out in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under the 2030 Agenda.

To better understand the company’s alignment with the SDGs, below is a brief overview of the correlation between our core processes and socio-environmental programs and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

CEEC Brazil implements appropriate social protection measures and systems for all its professionals, including the adoption of benefits and minimum wages practiced in the market, and meets other legal, labor, and social requirements. It participates in and encourages the engagement of its professionals in social and volunteer actions through campaigns and partnerships with social institutions.

The company makes its employees aware of the importance of supporting local commerce, to favor family farming and a sustainable economy, and understands that the income paid to its employees guarantees their food security and that of their families.

Periodically, newsletters are published addressing topics related to occupational safety and health, disease prevention, health promotion, etc. CEEC Brazil has an Integrated Management System (IMS) that guides environmental conservation and occupational health, based on the NBR ISO 14001:2015 and 45001:2024 standards. Furthermore, the company offers a health plan to all its employees, with the right to extend coverage to direct dependents.

Training is constantly provided to company professionals with the goal of sharing and promoting qualified knowledge, and ensuring the continuous improvement of company processes through the constant enhancement of our workforce.

CEEC Brazil believes that the diversity of its professionals is one of the main factors for maintaining its success, its permanence and growth. It is committed to equal employment opportunities and invests in the development of people regardless of race, sex, religion, beliefs or nationality.

CEEC Brazil's activities, including providing drinking water and sanitation to part of the population of São Paulo Metropolitan Region, are carried out in compliance with environmental legislation and standards, seeking to optimize and reduce the consumption of natural resources, and to preserve nature and biodiversity. The project's Environmental Management System evaluates the environmental aspects and impacts inherent to the company, and is certified under NBR ISO 14001:2015.

CEEC Brazil is an active agent in achieving this SDG. We contribute to a just and resilient energy transition through investment in and development of cutting-edge storage solutions, such as BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) and CAES (Compressed Air Energy Storage). These technologies are crucial to ensuring the stability and reliability of electricity grids, allowing for high penetration of intermittent renewable sources and, consequently, ensuring a more sustainable energy supply at affordable prices for all.

CEEC Brazil operates based on occupational health and safety standards, aiming for safe working conditions guided by best market practices and considers appropriate benefits for a healthy environment, which promote the necessary care for its professionals to perform their duties in pursuit of continuous improvement of its processes and, consequently, its growth.

Quality and Innovation are enduring values adopted by CEEC Brazil, through which it guarantees the quality of its services and products and continuously invests in the professional development of its staff and the company, aiming to increase productivity, create new growth opportunities, and encourage the team to find new solutions for its processes.

The Social pillar of CEEC Brazil is closely linked to SDG 10. In addition to fostering harmonious coexistence and respecting the values of people and the environment, we actively implement a socioeconomic inclusion policy in our surrounding area. We prioritize the hiring and training of local talent for our projects, transforming each undertaking into an engine for income growth, community empowerment, and the consequent reduction of regional inequalities.

Aligned with the goal of making human settlements inclusive and sustainable, CEEC Brazil's operating model is focused on creating a lasting positive impact. In addition to establishing sustainable partnerships with local organizations, we prioritize hiring local labor, guaranteeing them decent working conditions and benefits, fostering economic development and quality of life in the cities and regions near our projects.

CEEC Brazil adopts the principle of socio-environmental responsibility throughout its entire supply chain. Through production focused on maximum resource efficiency, we actively seek to reduce energy consumption and minimize waste generation, moving towards a Circular Economy. This commitment is reinforced by our infrastructure: the administrative headquarters and operational units are based on modern structures, ensuring high environmental performance in all our operations.

In line with SDG 13, CEEC Brazil adopts concrete measures for managing Greenhouse Gases (GHG). Our portfolio of mitigation actions includes the active preservation of forested areas, ensuring the maintenance of carbon sinks. Simultaneously, we promote a transition to the efficient use of resources in our projects, through the careful acquisition of materials and equipment that minimize water and energy consumption, and internal awareness programs aimed at the progressive reduction of waste generation.

CEEC Brazil contributes to the prevention and reduction of pollution and the conservation of natural resources in the aquatic ecosystem and other environments through the environmentally sound management of waste and chemical products from the processes inherent to the projects in which it operates.

CEEC Brazil, through one of its projects, conserves a property with forest cover in an advanced stage of regeneration, which is designated for preservation. In this way, it ensures the conservation and sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems and contributes to the implementation of sustainable forest management.

The company has a Code of Conduct that defines how the company and its professionals should act internally and in relation to society. It summarizes the basic principles that represent the corporate objectives, including: values that adhere to the best social practices in the market and the correct and respectful conduct of its professionals in relation to employees, the community, and the environment.

CEEC Brazil adopts and shares enduring values with its partners, such as: Rigorous compliance policies to combat all forms of corruption and ensure integrity in all our operations, including M&A and PPPs.
