Sistema Produtor São Lourenço S.A. (SPSL S.A.) – São Lourenço Water Supply Sistem – is a Special Purpose Entity (SPE) established in 2013 with the aim of developing a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) for the provision of operation and maintenance services of the sludge dewatering, drying, and final disposal system, as well as the maintenance of the São Lourenço Water Supply System, in addition to the execution of the works of this project, which belongs to the Basic Sanitation Company of the State of São Paulo  – SABESP.

In May 2018, the shares of SPSL S.A. were acquired by the Energy China (CEEC) Group, through its subsidiary CEEC Brazil, representing an important milestone for the Group and its first investment in Brazil.

PROJECT

São Lourenço Water Supply System transports water from the Cachoeira do França Reservoir, located in Ibiúna, in the state of São Paulo, to the Vargem Grande Paulista Water Treatment Plant, covering 83 km of pipeline to reach the municipalities it serves. The construction of the project began in 2014, the assisted operation started in April 2018, and the system has been in full commercial operation since July 2018.

The system is interconnected with other water supply systems serving the Greater São Paulo area. In a sustainable manner, it expanded the treated water production capacity for São Paulo Metropolitan Region (SPMR) and has delivered significant benefits to the population, including:

  • Ensuring the continuous, sustainable, and operationally efficient supply of high-quality water.

  • Meeting the estimated demand of the São Paulo Metropolitan Region by ensuring a sustainable regularization of water supply.

  • Serving future water demand in the western region of the SPMR, contributing to the universalization of water services.
